March 26th was a day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and collaboration as MineConnect hosted two events in Timmins! It was amazing to see so many students, industry professionals, and community members come together for a day dedicated to exploring opportunities in Ontario’s mining sector.
MineOpportunity Challenge
Alongside Goodman School of Mines (GSM), we kicked the day off with the 2nd annual MineOpportunity Challenge at Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology. 120 students participated in this hands-on career awareness event, where they discovered the mining process from start to finish via a game —think Monopoly meets Amazing Race! Huge thanks to our amazing sponsors for making this event a success:
- Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology
- Timmins Mechanical Solutions
- Dumas Contracting Ltd.
- Agnico Eagle
- Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver
- Levert Group
- Core5
- CIM Porcupine Branch
- NPLH Drilling
- IAMGOLD Corporation (Côté Gold)
- Porcupine Prospectors and Developers Association
We couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of these organizations and the dedicated volunteers who helped make the day unforgettable!
MineConnect Networking Night
After an exciting day of learning and networking at the challenge, we wrapped up with a lively evening at the MineConnect Roadshow at Full Beard Brewing Co. Industry professionals from across the province gathered to connect, collaborate, and discuss how to grow the mining supply sector.
A special thanks to our sponsors who made the evening possible:
- Timmins Mechanical Solutions
- Dumas Contracting Ltd.
- Agnico Eagle
- Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver
