Workplace Safety North (WSN) is recognizing four businesses for their ongoing work in fostering healthy and safe workplaces in Northern Ontario.
On May 1, the organization presented Workplace Culture Maturity Awards during its 27th annual Mining Health and Safety Conference in Sudbury.
Introduced last year, the awards program is specifically tailored to companies in the mining and forest products industries that have created a positive health and safety culture.
Sam Barbuto, a health and safety specialist with WSN, said the awards aren’t meant to measure legal compliance, or replace or audit a complete health and safety management system.
Instead, they’re meant to assess the culture of an organization, recognizing the maturity of its key practices.
