Workforce Planning for Sudbury & Manitoulin and The Labour Market Group have jointly issued a report entitled Balancing the potential impact of new innovations and technologies on the mining and mining supply services workforce over the next 3-5 years.
The objective of this research project is to understand the workforce skills that will be required to support the range of new technologies and innovations that are or will be implemented over the next 3-5 years in the mining and mining supply services sectors in northeastern Ontario. Many of these changes are driven by, but not exclusive to: improving safety and efficiency, mitigating risk, minimizing the environmental footprint, reducing production and workforce costs, increasing global competitiveness, and increasing profitability.
MineConnect members are among the first to review this new report. We anticipate that its findings and recommendations will be useful as you navigate the challenges and opportunities that the MSS sector is experiencing.
The authors of this report plan to partner with others in the near future to host a round-table discussion with representatives of the mining & MSS sectors regarding the report’s recommendations and next steps. If you would like to be represented, please contact Reggie Caverson to notify her of your interest.
