A Sudbury-based company has equipped a gold miner in Brazil with some high-tech tools to streamline its operations.
Earlier this month, NSS Canada completed a successful implementation of Miner Operated Survey System (MOSS) and Exyn autonomous technologies at Jaguar Mining.
MOSS is an underground surveying software that supports a wide range of Leica robotic total stations.
The technology “integrates mine design specifications and drawings when completing mark-ups, and provides real-time information for miners, engineers and geologists,” the company said.
The MOSS system “has been proven to help reduce overbreak by 15-20 per cent by enforcing best practices,” according to a release from NSS Canada. “Miners are provided ample feedback to help their drilling improve, stay consistent and prevent them from deviating from design.”
