The Millwright Regional Council consists of two local offices based in Northern Ontario: Sudbury and Thunder Bay, with both offices having millwrights and welders throughout Northern Ontario. This allows more regional dispatching for each specific area. We also have six other offices in Ontario and eight more local offices located across Canada.
The Millwright Regional Council and our Industry Partners are proud to have been involved in the construction and ongoing maintenance of many projects across Canada. A few notable projects In Northern Ontario include the construction of Lac Des Iles Mine in 2000 – one of the world’s largest palladium-producing mines at the time, and Detour Lake, New Gold Mine, and we’re currently and proudly working in Gogama and the Greenstone areas.
There is an unprecedented demand for precious metals across the world which also means there is a large demand for skilled workers. The Millwright Regional Council’s two Northern Ontario offices increase opportunities for our contracting partners, as we can provide construction and maintenance services with more local content for clients in the mining industry throughout Northern Ontario.
The Millwright Regional Council and our partners are proud to support many programs such as:
- (H2H) Helmets to Hardhats program, which helps to transition former military members into the workforce.
- (ITM programs) an Introduction to Millwrighting for various Indigenous groups.
- (SIB) Sisters in the Brotherhood and advocate group for women in the skilled trades within the United Brotherhood of Carpenters of America.
- Build a Dream, a Women in the Trades support program.
- We are proud to support environmental stewardship.
Many of our contracting partners and our local offices are huge supporters of other charities across Canada.
The Millwright Regional Council joined MineConnect to increase opportunities for our members and contracting partners. We see value in providing the mining industry with a local skilled workforce, while increasing Ontario and Canada’s viability and presence of being a world leader in the mining industry.
