Trans-West Process Solutions, a proudly Thunder Bay-owned company, has long been a name synonymous with innovation, technical expertise, and community values. As a cornerstone of Northwestern Ontario’s mining supply and service sector, Trans-West has been delivering engineered process solutions across industries for over five decades.
Now, with the unveiling of its brand-new Showcase Trailer, Trans-West is reaffirming its commitment to the region’s mining community, bringing hands-on innovation directly to the field.
A Legacy of Evolution and Resilience
Founded in 1972, Trans-West Process Solutions began as a provider of process solutions for the pulp and paper industry. Under the leadership of Greg Troilo, who has owned the company for nearly 30 years, the business evolved in response to the changing industrial landscape. As the pulp and paper sector declined, Trans-West strategically diversified to better serve the mining industry as well as other industries including Water Treatment, Fertilizer, Oil and Gas, etc.
Today, the company is known for its ability to engineer solutions tailored to each industry’s specific needs, thanks to strong relationships with top-tier manufacturers and a deep bench of technical expertise.
“Trans-West has been a key provider of process equipment to the industry for over 50 years. We excel in providing customers with integrated solutions that are optimally specified to meet their individual needs,” the team shared.
Hands-On Innovation: The New Showcase Trailer
In May 2025, Trans-West made headlines with the launch of its mobile Showcase Trailer—an innovative unit designed to provide hands-on demonstrations of the latest field instrumentation and mining solutions, underlining Trans-West’s continued commitment to serving the local Thunder Bay community and surrounding regions.
“We are thrilled to unveil our new Showcase Trailer, which allows us to bring the best of our products and services directly to our customers,” said President Greg Troilo. “We’re not just a service provider—we are a partner dedicated to the long-term success of our region’s mining operations.”
The trailer features a variety of cutting-edge products, including a state-of-the-art PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), touch panel HMI (Human Machine Interface), power supplies, and switches with the latest and greatest industrial instrumentation from Siemens and other industry-leading manufacturers. The mobile platform brings Trans-West’s top-tier solutions directly to the field, enabling clients to experience firsthand how these advanced technologies can enhance their mining operations.
It was developed through a local collaboration with Automation Now and was first introduced at CEN CAN 2024 in Thunder Bay.
“It was a significant investment of both time and money by us to get this showcase trailer to fruition,” said Ryan Gagnon, Trans-West’s Business Development Manager. “But it’s a way to show our commitment to the region’s mines that we have the capability to service them right here from Thunder Bay.”
As the trailer rolls out for mine visits this spring, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive—with many clients excited to experience the technology firsthand and engage in live product demos, consultations, and training.
Who They Serve
With headquarters in Thunder Bay and a second location in Winnipeg, Trans-West’s reach spans across Northwestern Ontario and into Manitoba. The team regularly serves key communities like Rainy River, Fort Frances, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Geraldton, Marathon, and municipal water plants throughout the North.
“We’re a local company providing direct, personal service that helps our customers improve their operations,” said Ryan. “This trailer isn’t just about showcasing products—it’s about building lasting relationships and understanding the unique needs of each mining operation.”
