Nordic Minesteel Technologies Inc. will continue its growth thanks to the official purchase of vacant municipally-owned land.
If this sounds familiar, that’s because the company had a similar arrangement in place this past summer to purchase land in the Airport Industrial Park, had a change of heart, and instead pursued this most recent deal with the City of North Bay.
The purchase price of the 2.99 acres of land located at 0 Legault Street, near the intersection with Ferris Drive, was $124,303 and the deal was formalized following an in-camera session of Tuesday’s regular meeting of council. The company also has holdings in North Bay on Main Street West and another located on Highway 11, north of the city.
According to Executive Vice-President Gordon Brooks, the company is eyeing continued growth and has plans to add personnel. The construction of a new production and office facility in the West Ferris Industrial Park will help NMT achieve its goals.
“We have transitioned from being simply a steel fabricator to our current position in which we are known around the world for the innovative equipment we design and manufacture for our clients making their operations safer, more environmentally friendly, more autonomous, and more productive,” says a statement from the company.
NMT has 60 employees in Canada — all located in North Bay and says it is “excited about this next phase of our growth and our continued support to our local community.”
The company serves a global client base, with a focus on the design and manufacture of mining equipment for use in underground and surface mines.
“Since our inception in 1993, we have been proud to be part of the North Bay mining services sector,” the statement continues. “Over the years, we have made strategic acquisitions to diversify our business.”
With many decades of experience, the company is proud to say it has built an excellent reputation in the mining industry worldwide. NMT specializes in the design and supply of solutions: for haulage, shaft-related, loading and unloading, tunnel, and other specialized applications.
