A Sudbury welding firm marking its 50th anniversary this year has an extra reason to celebrate.
City Welding has been chosen as the 2022 winner of the Cambrian College Employer Award of Distinction. The award recognizes employers who have demonstrated exemplary support for the college and its students and graduates.
City Welding was announced as the winner at today’s virtual Career Fair Conference, hosted by Cambrian College.
“City Welding has been a hallmark of the industry and a leader in the trades in Greater Sudbury for half a decade,” says Renee Scott, Cambrian’s Director of Student Success. “Robert Brouillette has done so much for the community and for Cambrian, promoting the trades, taking our students on placement, and being an employer of choice for our graduates. Congratulations to City Welding, especially during a year of celebration for the company.”
City Welding was chosen from a list of three finalists this year, which included global consulting firm, AECOM and software specialists, Sofvie.
“I am very humbled and honoured to be selected as this year’s winner of the Employer Award of Distinction,” says Rob Brouillette, President of City Welding. “My parents started this company in their garage in 1972, with a commitment to superior customer service. For the last ten years City Welding has had a fantastic partnership with Cambrian College. It’s been a very good journey for me personally and for the company. We have to view students as the future. We hire graduates. I think as employers, we have a responsibility to help students succeed, and I will continue to push other employers to get involved and support students. I finally want to thank the entire Cambrian College team for the past ten years of partnership.”
Previous winners of the Cambrian College Employer Award of Distinction include Ionic Mechatronics (2021), Hard-Line Solutions (2020) and BESTECH (2019).
Cambrian College would like to thank this year’s sponsors of the Career Fair Conference: Levert, Vale, Vianet and Official Language Programs – Bilingualism in Action.
