SOFOFA Hub Venture Client Challenge – Application Deadline: June 6
MineConnect is pleased to share an exciting global opportunity for innovative mining supply and service companies. The SOFOFA Hub in Chile has launched its 6th Venture Client Challenge, connecting global startups with leading Chilean industrial companies to tackle pressing industry challenges.
SOFOFA Hub’s Venture Client program identifies real-world business challenges and connects them with scalable technology solutions.
The 2025 Call for Proposals was launched on April 11. The current cycle includes two mining-related challenges:
1. Pucobre – Sustainable Leaching Solutions
Challenge: Reduce or replace sulfuric acid in copper leaching.
Looking for:
- Organic acids
- Ferric chloride, sulfate, and chlorine salts
- Ammonium thiosulfate
- Bioleaching using ferrobacteria
2. SQM Litio – Scaling in Heat Exchangers
Challenge: Manage scale formation at lithium chemical plants.
Looking for:
- Scale-inhibiting materials or coatings
- Non-invasive tech (e.g., ultrasound, vibration, magnetic treatment)
- Acoustic monitoring and early warning system
Other challenges include:
3. CMPC – Moisture Measurement in Wood Logs
Challenge: Accurately measure moisture content of individual logs throughout the wood supply chain.
Looking for:
- Microwave sensors
- Near-infrared (NIR) systems
- Capacitance and RF sensors
- Ultrasound
- Hyperspectral cameras
4. Colbún – Hydroelectric Turbine Optimization
Challenge: Detect the minimum effective flow rate before cavitation begins in hydro turbines.
Looking for:
- Sound sensors
- Pressure sensors
- Strain gauges
- Stress or deformation meters
