Since 1967, Cambrian College has been a leading post-secondary institution in Northern Ontario. We are a vibrant community of approximately 5000 full-time students in 90 programs, across three campus locations in northern Ontario: Sudbury, Espanola, and Little Current (Manitoulin Island). We are a destination of choice for learners from across Canada and around the globe, with students from over 50 countries. Cambrian has truly become a year-round global college, with program intakes in September, November, January, March, May and July. Our programs, from the Schools of Skills Training, Engineering Technology and Environmental Studies; Business and Information Technology, Creative Arts, Design and Music and Hospitality; Health Sciences and Emergency Services; and Justice, Community Services and General Studies have produced approximately 70,000 alumni who are powering regional workforces and economies around the world, and of course the mining sector, below and beyond the headframe.
In 2009, Cambrian R&D was established to grow the College’s applied research capacity, and to serve as the R&D arm for industry, SME’s and our many community partners in the region and across the province. Located inside the College’s Glencore Centre for Innovation, Cambrian R&D ensures our partners have access to government funding and our team of highly skilled staff and faculty researchers, as well as students from across all program offerings. In 2019, Cambrian R&D introduced the Centre for Smart Mining, a technology centre for the mining sector, supporting the adoption and evolution of digital technologies, underground communications, alternative tailings treatment technologies, and battery powered and connected mining vehicles, as well as reskilling and training.
In all, our R&D team works with businesses small and large to improve performance, innovate, and train workforces for the economic and social development of our region. Thanks to our efforts and those of our partners, we are ranked 18th out of nearly 200 research colleges in Canada, and we are here to work with you!
The college is eager to establish new partnerships with the MineConnect membership group, our team of manager, faculty, students, and graduates are ready to work with you.
