Innovation and technology in the mining industry aren’t just about making operations safer, more productive, and more efficient, although those are all important metrics.
The sector’s real measure of success will be how they’re used to create opportunity.
“As technology evolves, people need the opportunity to learn, adapt, and build confidence in new ways of working,” said Nelson Trejo, president of the Parts and Services division for North and South America at Epiroc. He spoke during a June 15 webinar celebrating the 2026 International Day of Women in Mining.
“Innovation is not only about introducing a machine or digital tools; it is also about building capabilities and helping people believe they belong in the future.”
The International Day of Women in Mining is observed globally June 15. This year’s theme, ‘Balance the Scales’, is a promise that every woman and girl — regardless of background or identity — should be safe, heard, and free to shape their own lives.
