With the early 2020s having been a difficult time for Laurentian University, a couple of local alumni teamed up June 18 to put on a meet-and-greet as a “gesture of confidence in Laurentian’s future, in its leadership and its profound value to our community.”
That’s how the event’s mission was described by David Di Brina, managing partner at Gold Leaf Financial Group and a partner at Di Brina Family Holdings, who MCed the evening.
The reception was held at Technica Mining, and hosted by Mario Grossi, CEO of Technica Mining, and Michael Di Brina, president of Di Brina Family Holdings, both of whom said they are proud Laurentian graduates.
It was attended by around 200 of the city’s movers and shakers, including Mayor Paul Lefebvre and Nickel Belt MPP France Gélinas.
They were there to chat with members of Laurentian’s leadership, including president Lynn Wells and provost Malcolm Campbell, who both joined the university in 2024 after a period of interim leadership following LU’s 2021-2022 insolvency.
