The Science, Engineering, Trades & Technology Olympics is coming up soon!
This event is part of WISE Sudbury’s ongoing efforts to promote and support females and nonbinary individuals in considering and pursuing careers in science and engineering. Our volunteers include science and engineering professionals and students from the Sudbury Region.
This fun-filled, FREE, full-day event is open to 120 individuals in Grades 4 to 7 who identify as girls or nonbinary from Sudbury and surrounding areas.
- Sunday, April 28th
- College Boreal
- Doors open 8:30 am and Olympics run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Participants will work in small teams of approximately 5-6 members, engaging in four hands-on experiments from various disciplines in science, engineering, trades, and technology. Each experiment is scored based on teamwork, participation, planning, documentation, ingenuity, and creativity. The goal is to introduce SETT in an engaging, positive manner. At the end of the day, all participants will receive a certificate of participation, and medals will be awarded to members of the winning teams.
Please note that we do not accept special requests for team formation to encourage participants to make new connections and foster a diverse learning environment.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, the event includes a pizza lunch and snack for all participants. (Dietary needs can be accommodated with notice – GF, dairy free and vegetarian are already accommodated.) Reach out for instructions if you prefer to bring your lunch.
