An announcement by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FEDNOR) today will mean much greater exposure worldwide for the region’s mining-related companies.
A grant of $1,668,500 from the Government of Canada will enable more than 110 companies and organizations to showcase their products and services at three of the world’s largest mining sector conferences. The Northern Ontario Mining Show will expand to Include MINExpo, PDAC Convention and CIM International Convention.
“Of this amount, $1,324,500 in FedNor funding will enable the City of Temiskaming Shores to establish the 11th annual Northern Ontario Mining Show (NOMS) Pavilion at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2025 International Convention , taking place in Toronto from March 2 to 5. This targeted investment will also allow the NOMS Pavilion to once again be hosted at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Annual Convention , taking place in Montreal from May 4 to 7,” according to a news release.
“These two exhibitions will help nearly 150 companies and organizations increase their sales and exports, access new markets and explore partnership opportunities. Since its inception in 2015, the FedNor-funded pavilion has helped participating businesses increase their sales and exports by more than $100 million while helping to create and maintain 900 jobs in northern Ontario.” In Ontario alone, the mining supply and service sectors generate approximately $10 billion annually and support 23,000 high-quality jobs.
“The $1.6 million in funding announced today will allow the Northern Ontario Mining Show to establish a strong regional presence at MINExpo and the CIM International Convention, while maintaining its reputation as the top attraction at the PDAC Convention,” says Anthony Rota, MP for Nipissing—Timiskaming. “It is exciting to see this flagship initiative expand so that as many companies as possible can take advantage of this exceptional opportunity.”
