This year’s event is expected to welcome approximately 225 students from nine schools across the region, marking significant growth from last year’s Timmins event, which hosted about 120 students. Through a dynamic, game-based format, students work in teams to navigate the mining lifecycle, complete challenges, and engage directly with industry professionals. The experience is designed to be both educational and engaging, giving students a better understanding of the many career pathways available in mining while emphasizing teamwork, problem-solving, safety, and innovation.
MineOpportunity Timmins will feature participating companies and organizations showcasing innovation and supporting the future workforce. Exhibitors represent a mix of mining companies, mining supply and service providers, industry associations, and educational institutions, all contributing to a well-rounded view of the sector and its opportunities.
In addition to the game-based activities, the event includes a career-coaching component, delivered in partnership with
HIEC, in which volunteers and industry professionals connect with students in small-group settings. During these sessions, volunteers share their career journeys, experiences, and insights, helping students better understand different career paths, education routes, and real-world expectations in the workforce.
MineOpportunity Timmins is proudly supported by industry leaders committed to building the future workforce. We gratefully acknowledge

As part of the experience, Northern College will also showcase its programs and facilities, providing students with direct exposure to post-secondary pathways in trades, technology, and mining-related fields.
MineOpportunity Timmins brings together educators, industry, and community partners to inspire the next generation of skilled workers, raise awareness of career opportunities, and strengthen the talent pipeline for the mining sector in Northern Ontario.
