RufDiamond LTD. was founded in 2018 and is the Ontario & Nunavut distributor of the off-road amphibious utility vehicle called the Fat Truck. Built right here in Canada the Fat Truck meets or exceeds industry standards.
The Fat Truck is designed to work in the harshest terrain safely and in comfort for the crews operating it. It is designed and purpose-built to bring mining exploration teams to and from remote areas with a significant payload regardless of the weather, season or terrain. Capable of carrying 2200 pounds and towing 3500 pounds, the Fat Truck allows projects to be advanced faster, safer and under budget. The Fat Truck drastically reduces aviation costs, but if the client wishes, the Fat Truck is fully capable of being airlifted for those really remote projects.
A pickup version of the Fat Truck was recently launched for the purpose of enabling mine exploration crews with the ability to carry heavy, bulky items such as core samples and drill rods. This will dramatically enhance mine exploration in the region specifically for junior exploration companies. No other vehicle has the safety features to carry the payload in all terrains, something for which RufDiamond is especially proud of. Areas in which the company sees the Fat Truck enhancing the mining sector include:
-Mine exploration (deployment of portable drilling rigs)
-Environmental (water samples in remote areas)
-Tailings pond inspections and maintenance
-Fire prevention and mitigation (full firefighting package)
-Medical/Search and Rescue (full ambulance pod)
RufDiamond/the Fat Truck is currently operational in many Northern Ontario communities including Timmins, Detour Lake, Sudbury, Sturgeon Falls, Pickle Lake, Moose Factory, Moosonee, Wawa, Kapuskasing as well as several other mining communities.
RufDiamond supports many local community groups. One initiative for which it is especially proud to lend assistance is in the area of environmental vegetation management where it is supporting the fight against an invasive plant species called Phragmites which are actively destroying sensitive fish and turtle habitats across Ontario.
According to the company’s President, Daryl Adams, RufDiamond joined MineConnect to network and engage with others in the mining sector. Through learning from those working in the field, he wishes to adopt a business model that will best align with the needs of the mining industry. With the rapid growth in exploration currently being experienced, Adams sees a bright future for Northern Ontario’s mining industry and believes his company and the Fat Truck are positioned to play a crucial role in helping maximize opportunities and efficiencies within mine exploration, development and operations.
