Company History
CANUN Rock Drills and Service Parts were introduced to the market in 1981. A decade later, 960660 Ontario Limited was registered, with Alan French and Peter Cirelli as original partners.
Today, CANUN International remains a family run business. Over the years, we have grown to be one of the major suppliers of rock drills and service parts within the Western Hemisphere as we take great pride in building strong customer relationships.
They celebrated 30 years of operation last November and look forward to servicing Northern Ontario for the decades to come.
While their roots are firmly planted in Val Caron, Ontario, CANUN has been proud to serve all of Northern Ontario. Communities such as Sudbury, Timmins and Kirkland Lake have all been instrumental to our growth over these many years.
Is there a project that your company has been involved in of which you are especially proud?
We are always proud of our 260B rock drill series as it continues to be a cornerstone in the mining market. A recent shift in the industry has allowed us to receive additional opportunities overseas and it has been a delight to see our drills reach new International markets.
Last year we also introduced a line of portable handheld hydraulic equipment that may further help contractors and prospectors in Northern Ontario. A recent client expressed how the versatility of these units greatly helped their ability to finish a remote contract. The equipment traveled by boat and ATV deep into the woods to complete the job at hand. This type of feedback is what makes us happy to offer a wider range of equipment in order to truly tailor solutions for all of our client needs.
What do you see as the future opportunities for your company and the mining industry in northern Ontario?
It is easy to think that with the trend towards operations like electric vehicles, opportunities for mining in our region will continue to flourish. These new operations provide ample opportunities for CANUN to continue servicing Northern Ontario.
Does your business support any particular community programs / clubs / groups?
CANUN supports several community programs such as Trek for Teens Sudbury, Buddha Whitewater Lanes Invitational, SickKids Foundation, Valley East Days etc.. We have also sponsored Mine and Drilling Expos such as The Canadian Mining Expo in Timmins.
Why did you join MineConnect? What business / personal value does it bring to you?
We have been a member of MineConnect, and previously SAMSSA, since shortly after its inception. Being a member has allowed us to stay current with all of the regional mining news, interesting stories and events.
