THUNDER BAY – May 5, 2025: The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC), is proud to announce the launch of the Small Business Tariff Response Fund aimed at providing short-term support to small to medium-sized for-profit businesses affected by U.S. tariffs on exported goods or retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports.
The purpose of this new program is to assist businesses in transitioning their operations and diversifying their export and import markets. This initiative is designed to help local businesses navigate the challenges posed by international trade barriers and ensure their continued growth and success. A total of 15 projects will be funded at $7,500 with a minimum project cost of $10,000. Applications will be accepted until May 30, 2025.
“Our goal is to empower local businesses to overcome the hurdles posed by tariffs and to explore new opportunities in both domestic and global markets,” says Charla Robinson, President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce. “By providing targeted support and encouraging market diversification, we aim to ensure the resilience and growth of our business community.”
