Mayor unveils details on how mining companies may invest in Timmins
Mayor Boileau shared many salient details about the future of Timmins in a presentation at the Timmins Public Library on Oct. 2
It was the last installment of a three-part series called “Mining in Timmins,” hosted by Timmins resident geologist Zeinab Azadbakht.
The mayor spoke of how her administration is focused on balancing the needs of mining companies and residents, as mining activities in the area are expected to grow over the next decade.

Overseeing the city’s future growth is Scott Tam, the new director of growth and infrastructure.

There are currently seven advanced exploration projects in the Timmins district, four of which are for critical minerals, according to Matt Krukowski, Timmins District Geologist.
