The Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families, have announced new funding that will create 470 employment and skills training opportunities for youth across Canada in key natural resources sectors, including energy, forestry, mining, earth sciences, and clean technology.
This initiative is delivered through the Science and Technology Internship Program (STIP) – Green Jobs, which supports employers in these sectors by providing funding to hire, train, and mentor youth aged 15 to 30 for up to 12 months. The program aims to build a skilled and diverse workforce that will help drive innovation and sustainability across Canada’s natural resources industries.
Since 2017, the STIP–Green Jobs program has created over 5,300 green jobs and skills training opportunities in every province and territory, helping to shape Canada’s future economy while promoting environmental responsibility and inclusivity.
