Detour Lake Mine marks 5M gold ounces poured

The northeastern Ontario mine marked the milestone on June 22

Detour Lake Mine in northeastern Ontario has poured its 5 millionth ounce of gold since commercial production began in 2013.

Agnico Eagle, the mine’s parent company, celebrated the milestone in a June 22 statement.

Calling it a “historic” occasion, the company said 5 million ounces of gold is the equivalent to 10,000 bars of gold, which, if laid end to end, would measure higher than Toronto’s CN Tower.
