On November 9th, ACCES Employment will join with communities from across Canada in hosting a Canada-wide Networking event for pre-arrival immigrants. During this virtual event, smaller urban and rural communities, as well as sector representatives, will engage with pre-arrival immigrants, all of whom are already approved for Permanent Residency. The event will help these newcomers to Canada to determine where to begin their lives in Canada. Last year, 329 prearrival newcomers from all over the world attended the Canada-wide Community Expo. This year they expect close to 400.
Each community and sector will be assigned a virtual “booth”. Communities and sector organizations will have a chance to be represented by up to four individuals. Pre-arrival newcomers will be able to virtually visit the booths and learn more about the communities and sectors via text, audio and video chats. Each booth will be able to show a short video and other text information to participants before they talk with a community representative.
The MineConnect community is invited to be a part of this highly visible national event, and to have an opportunity to engage with the hundreds of pre-arrival immigrants who will be there. Participation will require minimal preparation on your part because you will be using existing knowledge about your sector and organization to share with prearrival newcomers. You won’t need to deliver a formal presentation, just to share with the people coming to your booth information about your organization and sector.
ACCES Employment is a registered Canadian charity located in the Greater Toronto Area, but which virtually serves other parts of Canada.
