Ian Pearce serves on the board of several mining and mining services companies, including as Director at KoBold Metals, chair and independent director of Newgold, Nevsun and MineSense Technologies, and independent director at Outotec.
Ian has over 30 years of experience in the mining and construction industries from all the corners of the globe. Ian is a former CEO of Xstrata Nickel (now Glencore) and founding partner of X2 Resources and held various senior roles at Falconbridge prior to its acquisition by Xstrata.
Ian is a former chair of, the Mining association of Canada, the Nickel Institute, and former board member at the Canadian Opera Company and advisor to Women’s Executive Network.

Night Life On The Rocks will be the launch to MECA. This Meet & Greet is part of a series of nights at the science centre just for adults. Enjoy an entertaining evening with friends & peers while partaking in drinks, cocktails, and savvy talks by our experts. This will be a night to remember!
We will be hosting this fun social event in partnership with Science North. Showcasing what Sudbury has to offer in a fun and interactive way, participants can explore Science North and network with like-minded professionals. Our keynote speakers will launch the event and speak to engagement within the mining industry and how we can build a sustainable future in mining, by mining our people first.

Gala: Celebrating Engagement By Coming Together
Keynote Speaker: Stephen de Jong, CEO of VRIFY
This event will celebrate the conference as a whole. Join us for a night of fun, entertainment and good food!
The event will feature keynote speaker Stephen de Jong who will provide closing remarks and capture the theme of engagement in the mining industry. He will leverage his experience building teams and working across disciplines to achieve big goals to inspire and round up the MECA Event.

Underground & Surface Tours
Registered guests will be offered underground, surface, and Sudbury “silicon” valley type tours. The complimentary (free) tour registration link will be shared with Registered delegates starting on September 1st.
