We are a destination of choice for learners from across Canada and around the globe, with students from over 50 countries.  Cambrian has truly become a year-round global college, with program intakes in September, November, January, March, May and July.  Our programs, from the Schools of Skills Training, Engineering Technology and Environmental Studies;  Business and Information Technology, Creative Arts, Design and Music and Hospitality; Health Sciences and Emergency Services; and Justice, Community Services and General Studies have produced approximately 70,000 alumni who are powering regional workforces and economies around the world, and of course the mining sector, below and beyond the headframe.

In 2009, Cambrian R&D was established to grow the College’s applied research capacity, and to serve as the R&D arm for industry, SME’s and our many community partners in the region and across the province. Located inside the College’s Glencore Centre for Innovation, Cambrian R&D ensures our partners have access to government funding and our team of highly skilled staff and faculty researchers, as well as students from across all program offerings.  In 2019, Cambrian R&D introduced the Centre for Smart Mining, a technology centre for the mining sector, supporting the adoption and evolution of digital technologies, underground communications, alternative tailings treatment technologies, and battery powered and connected mining vehicles, as well as reskilling and training.  In all, our R&D team works with businesses small and large to improve performance, innovate, and train workforces for the economic and social development of our region.  Thanks to our efforts and those of our partners, we are ranked 18th out of nearly 200 research colleges in Canada, and we are here to work with you!

City of Greater Sudbury

Business Development Other

Since those first nickel and copper discoveries, Sudbury has evolved from a simple mining community into the world’s most diversified mining supply and services cluster. We are home to the largest integrated mining complex in the world that features nine operating mines, two mills, two smelters, and a nickel refinery employing a combined 5,500 people. Our cluster also consists of more than 300 mining supply firms employing more than 12,000 people and generating approximately $4 billion in annual exports.

Sudbury’s leadership position in the Canadian and global mining industry has not gone unnoticed. Increasingly, international firms view Sudbury as an ideal base of operations, allowing further expansion of this influential sector. Companies that want to be close to the action have established Canadian offices in Sudbury. These include mining equipment manufacturers, engineering firms and mining contractors.

City of Temiskaming Shores

Business Development

The City of Temiskaming Shores is a community of 10,000 located centrally between Sudbury, Timmins, North Bay and Rouyn, QC.  The City is home to several mining supply companies and supports several more from the smaller communities around us.  We offer great living space while being located on beautiful Lake Temiskaming where fishing and boating opportunities are fantastic.  The community is also home to a post secondary campus of Northern College and has a private career college providing training in heavy equipment and transport truck operation.

The community has over 70 acres of serviced industrial land that is certified under the Ontario government's Certified Site Program as ready to build.  All lots are serviced with water, sanitary sewer, 3 phase hydro and natural gas.  High speed telecommunication lines are also available.  Our industrial tax rates are lower than most in the north.

Preferred Corporate Investment Solution

A tax efficient way of dealing with surplus inside your company.

  • Most successful business owners have accumulated surplus cash in their companies. Many have a holding company to accommodate this surplus.
  • If invested the gains are taxed at high rates in their company and because of recent tax changes these gains could reduce or eliminate the company’s small business deduction.
  • They need to have access to this money in case it is needed.
  • They would eventually like to use this money for their retirement but will still have to pay tax personally.
  • Recent tax changes have restricted income splitting to family members.
  • Most realize that registered plans such as RRSP’s only defer tax and can cause bigger tax problems in the future.

Our experts at Junkala Wealth Building Inc. provide affluent individuals and their professional team the opportunity to retain hundreds of thousands of dollars more in pre-tax income and profit with minimum risk. Our tax strategy experts find the opportunities others miss.
You have our guarantee that when we have completed your financial analysis, your professional advisors will whole-hardheartedly endorse our services.

The Goodman School of Mines was created to help Canada meet the impending employment shortfall in the mining industry that is estimated to be between 60,000 and 130,000 new workers by 2020, many of which will require a university degree. Our vision is to be The University for the development of world-class credentials in the five key areas that define the mining cycle: Mineral Exploration, Project Feasibility, Mine Development, Mine Closure and Monitoring and in the three key areas in society–People and Community, Environment and Ecology, and the Economy–that are impacted by it. The Goodman School of Mines is mandated to:

Expand interdisciplinary majors and minors, thereby enhancing the skills of future professionals in mineral exploration and mining, in areas such as occupational health and safety, Indigenous relations, mining management and finance;

Drive the creation of executive programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in modular, short-course or distance education formats, and other delivery mechanisms as opportunities may arise;

Formalize new provincial, national and international alliances with other post-secondary institutions, including an International Network of Schools of Mines with Laurentian serving as a major hub;

Double enrolment in mining related programs by 2020.

Mining Industrial Photographer Specialist

Marketing & Media

"James and his team were fantastic to work with. Beyond his evident skill with a camera, it is James’ ability to make his “models” feel comfortable and at ease that truly makes his work shine."

By taking the time to get to know his subjects, James is able to capture images that show a genuine, natural reflection of who the company is and what they are trying to accomplish. We gave James the challenge of working in a high-intensity, chaotic environment with drillers, core cutters, geologists, and technicians who had no experience with professional photography, but between his keen eye for storytelling, lighting, and framing and his talent with photoshop, we could not be happier with the way the images turned out.

Alexandra Armstrong
Community Relations and Communications Coordinator

I have been creating custom photography for the mining industrial clients for over 26 years. Experience in the Mining & Industrial sectors has allowed me to develop a style that is respected by my peers and my clients.  I strive to create images that will stand out when used in your marketing materials and website to give you that extra edge and wow factor that your company deserves.

Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation

Under the Federal government’s National Airports Policy (1994), ownership of the Airport was offered to provincial and local governments, airport commissions, private businesses or other interests, in that order. In response to this policy, the SSMADC, an independent, not-for-profit, community based entity incorporated on April 26, 1996, and took over ownership and operation of the Airport on March 28, 1998. Of the 23 regional, local or small airports in Ontario that have been transferred from the Federal government, the Sault Ste. Marie Airport is one of few airports that is not directly affiliated with a municipality. The Airport must raise sufficient revenues from fees, concessions, and leases to meet its operating expenses, provide facilities for tenants, and pay taxes.

Since assuming ownership of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport from the Federal Government the Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation (SSMADC) has elevated the standards of air transportation available to the community since 1961.

Situated on the original meeting grounds of the Batchewana and Anishinabek people in the heart of the Great Lakes, the Sault Ste. Marie Airport is located on 1,800 acres of land south-west of the City of Sault Ste. Marie. The Sault Ste. Marie Airport is home to two runways, each measuring 6,000 feet (1,829 metres), and serviced by multiple airlines.

Township of Dubreuilville/Corporation du Développement Économique et Communautaire de Dubreuilville

Business Development Hospitality

The Township of Dubreuilville is a proud Francophone community nestled within the heart of the Magpie forest, located at the junction of the Magpie River and at the end of highway 519 East off the Trans-Canada highway 17. Dubreuilville is a relatively young town with a colourfully rich history. Our industrious and adventurous lifestyles are built on the surrounding natural resources (mining), while modern technology is rapidly propelling Dubreuilville into the modern age. The result is an energetic community building a strong future on the shoulders of our founding fathers. Our lifestyle is typical of the French culture. We love good food, great music, lively social occasions and a comfortable quality of life that is based on solid family values.
Surrounded by the lush beauty of Northern Ontario, Dubreuilville offers limitless year-round activities to suit every need. Join us and experience the freedom!

The Corporation du Développement Économique et Communautaire de Dubreuilville (CDEC) is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of community leaders, business owners and ex-officio members from the Corporation of the Township of Dubreuilville. The CDEC aims to work closely with local businesses, all levels of government, and community stakeholders to facilitate economic growth within the community. The ultimate objective of the CDEC is to develop existing businesses and attract outside investment. The CDEC office can provide detailed and up-to-date information to corporations considering making Dubreuilville their new home.

Maestro Digital Mine

I value our membership in MineConnect as it offers many of the services that I rely on to grow my business both nationally and internationally. Specific to us is taking advantage of their trade programs, daily news feeds and networking events. It is also a great resource and advocacy group for mining suppliers throughout Northern Ontario.
