You’re invited to attend a free webinar addressing run of materials hazards on Thursday, July 16, from 11:00 to 12:00 pm ET.

In this session, participants will learn more about run of materials hazards, including how these events occur, recent incident trends, and serious risks they pose in mining environments.

A run of materials (also referred to as a run of muck) occurs when ore, waste rock, slimes, tailings, or other bulk material moves unexpectedly and uncontrollably due to gravity. These events are typically sudden, forceful, and often involve water, creating a high-risk situation for workers in the vicinity.

Runs of materials are generally low frequency but high consequence events — often result in crushing, burial, or pinning injuries.
